Progress Update 5 on the GRDM Regional Waste Management Facility Construction

“The construction of Phase 1 of the Garden Route District Municipality’s Regional Waste Management Facility, located approximately 15 km outside Mossel Bay next to PetroSA, is now approximately 70% complete, with several key components nearing completion,” said Johan Gie, Manager: District Waste Management.

Current activities include:

  • The final stone drainage layer is being installed over the lining materials of Cell 1A.
  • The lining of the leachate and contaminated water dams is nearing completion.
  • Construction of the concrete access road is nearing completion.
  • Buildings and other associated infrastructure works are progressing in accordance with the approved construction programme.

Overall, the project is progressing well, with major construction elements steadily moving towards completion.
